Tips and tricks
Describe the Subject in Detail
Instead of short prompts like “a dog,” describe what makes the subject unique.
Ask yourself:
What kind of subject is it?
What is it doing?
Does it have a personality, role, or emotion?
Better examples:
“A playful golden retriever puppy chasing a butterfly”
“An old wizard with a long beard and a tall crooked hat”
“A smiling robot holding a bouquet of flowers”
Specific subjects lead to more engaging coloring pages.
Add a Clear Location or Environment
Placing your subject in a specific setting adds context, storytelling, and more fun areas to color.
Consider including:
Indoor vs. outdoor locations
Themes or time periods
Surrounding scenery or objects
Examples:
“inside a cozy treehouse filled with books and lanterns”
“on a busy city street with tall buildings and parked cars”
“in a magical forest with mushrooms, vines, and winding paths”
Even simple environments dramatically improve results.
Describe Actions, Props, and Story Details
Coloring pages feel richer when something is happening.
Try adding:
Actions (running, flying, building, cooking)
Props (toys, tools, food, vehicles)
Small story moments
Examples:
“riding a bicycle with a basket full of fruit”
“having a tea party with stuffed animals”
“building a sandcastle at the beach”
These details create more interesting shapes and sections to color.
Use Quotation Marks for Words, Names, and Numbers
If you want specific words, names, or numbers to appear in the coloring page, always put them in quotation marks.
This tells the AI to treat them as exact text, not visual concepts.
Use quotes for:
Names (“LUCAS”)
Short phrases (“Happy Birthday”)
Numbers (“1”, “5”, “10”)
Examples:
“A birthday cake with the name "EMMA" written across the top”
“A school bus with the number "5" on the side”
“A banner that says "WELCOME HOME"”
Without quotation marks, text may be skipped or interpreted incorrectly.
Put the Main Idea First
The AI pays the most attention to the start of your prompt, so structure it clearly.
Recommended order:
Subject → Action → Location → Extra details
Example:
“A friendly dragon flying over a small village, carrying a lantern, with houses and winding roads below”
Gold-Standard Example Prompt
Here’s a complete example that produces a highly detailed, engaging coloring page:
“A cheerful dinosaur wearing a backpack, walking to school on a quiet neighborhood street, passing houses, trees, and parked cars, holding a lunchbox labeled "MAX", with a sign showing the number "5" nearby”
You can fine-tune your results using the settings panel on the left side of the interface.
AI Model Selection
Auto: Best for beginners. It intelligently routes your prompt to the best model.
Basic: Good for simple line art or quick drafts (uses fewer credits).
Detailed: Adds more texture and shading.
Advanced Word Art: Specifically tuned for handling text or typography within images.
Aspect Ratio Choose the shape that fits your destination:
1:1 (Square): Best for Instagram posts.
9:16 (Portrait): Best for phone wallpapers or TikTok/Reels backgrounds.
16:9 (Landscape): Best for desktop wallpapers or presentations.
Style Presets
Simple: Clean lines, fewer details (great for coloring pages)
Grayscale: Removes all color, producing a black-and-white image ready for printing.
What is "Upload a photo"?
Instead of starting from scratch with just text, you can upload an existing image to guide the AI. This is perfect if you want to turn a photo of your pet into a coloring page or remix a sketch you drew.
How to use it:
Look for the box that says "Click to upload a photo" on the main dashboard.
Drag and drop your PNG or JPG file (up to 20MB).
Add a text prompt to tell "Chomp" (our AI mascot) how to change it (e.g., "Turn this into a line art drawing").
Click Generate.
Note: Uploading an image costs 5 credits per action.
